Hi, I’m Fiorenzo
I’m a writer from Hamilton, Ontario, whose career has spanned the corporate world, from Director of Product Development and Management to my current role as Director of Product in Business Intelligence.
I’m an avid reader of both books and audiobooks. My reading has ranged from Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson, and Jim Butcher to Pierce Brown and Andy Weir, and my love of science fiction runs through books, television, and film — usually leaning toward the softer side, from Star Wars to Star Trek. I claim not to be much of a dystopian guy, though my lifelong affection for Mad Max makes that argument hard to defend.
That probably tells you a little about me, though I’ve never been great at doing that directly. Most of my defining moments are less trophy-winning achievements and more stories my friends and family love bringing up every chance they get.
Exhibit A: I burned my hand with a marshmallow.
Yup. A marshmallow.
I decided that roasting one in the family room fireplace was a great idea. When I brought it to my lips to blow out the flame, it melted onto my hand. Second-degree burn. I still have the scar to prove it.
That pretty much sums me up.
In case you thought it happened when I was a kid, I was in my early twenties.
If you want an actual kid story, I broke my collarbone in Grade 8 gym class trying to impress a girl with my somersault prowess. I got the girl, though! Until she dropped me a note a few weeks later saying she now liked Darryl.
First loves.
I’ve always enjoyed books and movies about ordinary people dropped into impossible situations. So I wrote one. In space.
Minus weaponized marshmallows and Darryl.
